Friday Dec 1

Office Party Day!! Eating, Drinking, Sitting in Santa’s lap & Bonus Checks!

Saturday Dec 2

Mr. Menace has always wanted to see Brian Setzer Orchestra perform and tonight is the night! We are driving up to Huntsville Alabama for the concert and also have reservations for supper at The Bottle.

Sunday Dec 3

Did a little shopping today at Michaels, Big Lots, & Burkes. I bought a couple of things for my front porch, you can read about that HERE,Β and found a gift or two.

Monday Dec 4

Worked out of town today in Wedowee, Alabama. I really enjoy getting out of the office once in a while.

Wednesday Dec 6

After the rain, it finally cooled off so I get to wear boots, and sweaters, and coats and even a scarf! It had been being in the 70’s but today was in the 40’s. I also made my first pot of soup for the winter. YUM!

Thursday Dec 7

Talked to my mama tonight and planned a trip to visit her later in the month.

Friday Dec 8

3 1/2 inches! (a rarity in Alabama!)

Saturday Dec 9

Christmas shopping in the morning, and that night a party at SIL and BIL’s house which is on the Warrior River and watched the Christmas on the River Parade.

Wrapped presents.

Monday Dec 11

For the first time since I met Mr. Menace, I met some other Gwins (besides his children) today. Unfortunately, as it all too often is, we were attending a family funeral.

Tuesday Dec 12

Special Election Day in Alabama. What a mess. At least voting is easy for me these days since the polling place is across the street from our house.

Wednesday Dec 13

Did a little online shopping today so I am about 1/2 way through.

Thursday Dec 14

Today was my second meeting with the local Garden Club. She assures me that one day we will have a gardening based meeting AND I won the door prize AGAIN! I am beginning to feel guilty. haha

Friday Dec 15

Met friends, who were in Birmingham Christmas shopping, for happy hour at Firebirds.

Saturday Dec 16

Dinner and a movie: Jack Brown’s Beer & Burgers and Murder on the Orient Express.

Sunday Dec 17

Rainy Day washing clothes and watching movies. Also worked on blog posts for the holidays to free up my time, lost this particular post, found it hours later…. sigh…

Monday Dec 18

It was Monday. I did a little stocking stuffer shopping during lunch.

Tuesday Dec 19

Mr. Menace stayed home sick today and several others were out for the holidays so I had the department by myself.

Wednesday Dec 20

It rained HEAVILY this morning. After work we went to Toys R Us and the Galleria. It wasn’t too busy and we enjoyed our once a year shopping together time AND we bought ourselves a giant smart tv.

Thursday Dec 21

Last day of work for a while and when we got off at 5 we had Christmas with 3 of our granddaughters, Sadie, Phoebe and Dottie. Three precious girls.

Friday Dec 22

Got up early and left Alabama for eastern North Carolina. Arrived at my brothers house around 6:30 pm and had Christmas with my nephews and niece.

Saturday Dec 23

Played around outside after breakfast and left for Mama’s around noon. Stopped for Cheddar Bo’s because you can’t get them any more in Alabama.

Sunday Dec 24 Christmas Eve

Spent the day at my sister’s with her youngest son and her grandkids. Played Googly Eyes, Bottle Flip, and Toilet Trouble. It was so FUN playing with kids again.

Monday Dec 25 Christmas

Mama had been wanting to work (and play) in her weaving shed, but when she went out there it was such a mess, she was disheartened and gave up. We spent several hours out there cleaning up, rearranging and decorating, which was even more fun than playing games with the kids yesterday! You can read about it HERE.

Tuesday Dec 26

Mama had bought a bed online several months ago and I had planned to help her put it together LAST time I visited but never got around to it. Today was the day.

Wednesday Dec 27

Had supper with my sister’s oldest son and his family. OMG what a feast! BBQ’d ribs, Pork Roast, Fried Oysters (FRESH!), Steamed Oysters (FRESH!). I should have taken a picture of the food…

Thursday Dec 28

Drove all day and got home around 7:30 pm. Mr. Menace and I opened our gifts from each other.

Friday Dec 29

I love a one day work week. πŸ™‚

Saturday Dec 30

Putting away suitcases, gifts, relaxed in hot tub, washed dishes, helped Mr. Menace hang new tv.

Sunday Dec 31 New Years Eve

One of our granddaughters, Sadie, was born on NYE, so we always have a birthday party to attend on that evening. Usually we go out dancing afterwards but this year we went to Logan’s RoadhouseΒ for a steak and then home for a movie on our new tv which was a Christmas gift to ourselves.

And just like that, 2017 ends and we begin a whole new year of learning new things and living life!

      Hi Cindi. Yes, it does look nice doesn’t it. I was pleased and I sure think she was too. She bought it from Wayfair and she chose this one because it reminded her of the one that Daddy had as a boy, which is at my house now. πŸ™‚

      That playground is wonderful! It is actually in my brother’s yard and he built the treehouse with the climbing wall and the slide and a swing, and the playhouse, and he has plans for a zip line too! πŸ™‚

    What a fun month…you look so pretty all gussied up for the concert….bet that was a blast.

    We had a family funeral on the 11, too. πŸ™ Sorry for your loss.

    Looks like it was fun playing with the kiddos… December always reminds me that we need more family game nights!

      Em, It was a fun month, you are right! And I loved getting dressed up and having a date with my main man. And games are so fun with kids around! Seems like winter always brings a rash of funerals. I am sorry to hear that you lost someone also. xo

    Oh, Nikki, so glad you enjoyed some special time with family over the holidays. Enjoyed the post about your mom’s weaving shed. What a lovely new bed she has and those quilts are like works of art!

    Your seafood dinner made my mouth water. I am a former Shoney’s waitress (years ago) and we had fried oysters on the menu. So good. Would love to have a big plate of them right now.

    A fun post Nikki! Loved reading about your adventures. My hubby and I always plan to see “Christmas on the River,” but we miss it every darn year. Wasn’t that snow fun??!! Such a rarity! Now that “Toilet Trouble” game sounds pretty interesting! Yes it is fun to play with kids! Fun to be a kid again!
