Alabama Bloggers You Should be Following

Lately I have been wondering if I’m the only blogger in Alabama. I had met two or three through my own blog, but I got really curious and began doing some research and found a pretty good list of them to share with you. Some of them I have know a couple of years and some are new to me too, but I find them very interesting and I am having a lot of fun getting to know them! I found a diverse group to share with you and I am SURE you can find someone of interest to follow in this list of Alabama bloggers you should be following.

Ricki

is from Birmingham and is The Sketchy Reader.

Welcome to The Sketchy Reader!  If you’re looking for something inspiring to read, you’ve come to the right place.  If you’re looking for a great beach read, a selection for your book club, or a cozy mystery to enjoy snuggled by a fire, your search is over.  I’ve done the work for you!  I’m an artist, the “sketchy” part of The Sketchy Reader.  I draw and paint creative letters monthly about great books and sell them in my Etsy shop.  Everyone loves fun snail mail!  I also enjoy oil painting and art journaling.

Pam

is in NE Alabama in the Appalachian foothills and blogs at Everyday Living.

I am a retired and yes, tired interior decorator!  I do still love to do new projects in my home to share with you on the blog, but that is not all you will find here!  I love to entertain and set welcoming tables that invite you to linger for conversation long after the meal is finished.  But, isn’t a beautifully set table meaningless without good food?!  That’s the best part!  I love spending time in the kitchen preparing Southern cuisine with a little foodie flair!  You can expect weekly tablescapes and recipes…many passed down from my Mother (who was the best cook) along the way!  My newest hobby is gardening…and you will find yourselves there with us often as I share much from our beloved backyard space!

Hi, I’m Florence, the one-woman-show behind Vintage Southern Picks! And yes, I’m a real person behind the logo and the name. The main reason I started this blog was because friends, family, and acquaintances often ask:

  • Where do I get stuff to sell
  • How do I ship
  • How do I get paid

I’ve learned through all of this that good food and a healthy, active lifestyle is the key to a joyful and energetic life. Here, you’ll find our life updates, healthy and family friendly recipes, and encouragement to anyone looking to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Kara

blogs at The Stylin Educator from the great city of Auburn

My blog is style with a touch of beauty. By this I mean I am mainly into style but am dabbling a little in beauty and have a few posts on that. I have a degree in fashion and have really never done anything with it. Starting a style blog has been a dream for quite a few years now, but I always let fear hold me back, so now I finally started it and I love it. I just love showing my style and linking the items for people to buy and then they get them and love them like I do. It is just great.

Debbie

at Refresh Restyle

I am a paint brush, frying pan, nail gun hailing woman, a grandma, a wife, a sister, a daughter. I have been known to paint over precious woods and laminate surfaces without even a thought of what I might ruin. I am disorganized and I have a short attention span.  I even look at new things and wonder what I can make out of them.

I use my kitchen counters or my dining room table to disassemble and paint my projects.  I use whatever’s around to prop and raise up the object that I’m refreshing. I give little attention to what might happen if I spill paint or nail through a table…until it happens.

When someone’s talking to me, I’m multi-tasking. I’m thinking about my next project or what I need from the hardware store and they don’t even realize it. I have fifty lists around me at all times and I can never find the one I need.

I ask my husband the same question over and over last night and I didn’t even realize it.

There are unfinished projects in 90% of my home and I like it.  I wake up every day with purpose and a plan… I must finish at least one project today!

I love sharing what I know and what I learn, what I’m using and what works well for me. I’ve ruined enough stuff to be an expert on what not to do.

The Blue Building Antiques and Consignment: Experience our Elegant Clutter

Hi!  I am Sue…Suzanne, Sue at Blu.  You can find me on any given day at my store, The Blue Building Antiques and Consignment.  My Dad instilled the love for DIY in me at a very young age.  We didn’t have repairmen come to our house.  My Dad (aka POP, that’s him below) did everything…the roofing, plumbing, electrical, masonry tasks, refinishing, drywall, painting, tiling…if it needed done, Pop did it!  And if I ever saw a cool toy on TV that we couldn’t afford (or he didn’t want to buy), he made me one!

Welcome to our Shop at Blu pages.  I started this blog to drive traffic to my antique and consignment store in Alabaster AL.  In the process, a never ending process, I have met some phenomenal folks at my store, in the blog world, on Facebook, at conferences, and simply on the street.  In these pages are observations, DIY tips, and sometimes just an introduction to a cool product or a sweet person that we have encountered.  Come along for the ride…check in from time to time…laugh with us and enjoy the Elegant Clutter that makes up LIFE!

Wanda

blogs at Just Vintage Home from her home in Sylacauga

Where is Just Vintage? Sylacauga in east central Alabama. Our claims to fame are Jim Nabors (Gomer Pyle) and the purest, whitest marble this side of Italy. Oh, and one of our home town girls was a Gold Digger on the Dean Martin Show.

What do I do? I buy and sell junk wonderful, vintage items here in the blog shop, on Etsy as JustVintage2, and at Angel’s Antique Mall in Opelika, Alabama. I also love DIY craft projects and home decorating and helping you to learn to do whatever I’m doing!

I guess there’s not much more to say than that. We live a simple, uncomplicated life. But a busy one. There’s always something going on and occasionally, it’s blog worthy.

Beth

blogs at Unskinny Boppy

Unskinny Boppy

Hey there! I’m Beth. I love home decorating, interior designing, and DIYing on the cheap. I also like to get my hands dirty in my flowerbeds and snap pretty photos along the way. I’m a master of wasting time on the internet.

I have a son named Garrett and a husband named J and two dogs named Gus and Woodrow. In a word… TheBryansWeBe! I can waste hours crafting just the right sentence. I delete a lot. I am sleepy. I like food, particularly baked goods. I love fishing, laughing, boat riding, and Willie Nelson records.

I’m a mommy blogger turned home design blogger. You’ll find a whole lot of DIY craftiness and interior design ideas peppered with some cute pics of my kid. I try to be funny. Sometimes I succeed. Oh, and on occasion I talk about gardening. Look for those posts from the time Spring fever hits me on the first 60 degree day in late February until about mid-May. Then I lose interest because I live on the surface of the sun (aka central Alabama) where it’s 95+ for most of Summer and Fall.

The Painted Apron

Hi, My name is Jenna. I am an artist, designer, daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law,  grandmother, friend and general sounding board. I try to live an artful life, as in an art filled life, being creative everyday and grateful for every moment.

I am a little creative crazy, jumping from one project to the next.  Boundaries tend to get in my way so for this blog, The Painted Apron, I want to include my favorite creative areas, cooking, party planning, styling, gifts, crafts & painting, and  It is my sincere wish to inspire creativity in you, give you some jumping off points, and help you enjoy some new creations of your own.

Carli

lives in Birmingham and blogs at Carli Best

Hi! I’m Carli! I’m a wife to Chris and mama to Baylor (8), Loxley (5), and Rockwell “Wells” (1). I’m originally from Montgomery, Alabama and currently live in Birmingham, Alabama. I worked outside the home until my youngest child, Wells, came along; now I take care of the kids full-time and try to embrace the chaos that is our life… and document it! 🙂 Baylor is on the autism spectrum (see blog post HERE) and one of the main reasons I created this blog. I wanted to have a space that would provide encouragement and inspiration for others that might be in a similar situation. I love fashion and home decor. My personal style is classic but I try to push myself outside my comfort zone and try new things!  I love spending time with my family. I love Jesus. His grace and blessings humble me daily. Thank you for reading and joining me on my journey!

Beth, I think we feel a bond or a connection with someone with who we feel that we have something in common. Such as, living in Alabama and blogging. So I wanted to get to know some bloggers who are closer also. Thanks for reading some of the blogs! 🙂

Aw, Nikki! You are so sweet to include me in this list of fantastic bloggers. I will definitely follow them when I get over my bootcamp exhaustion, and I’m bookmarking this page until I can visit everyone.

Do you mind if I feature this post within the next couple of weeks with a link back to your blog?

I’m impressed with the work this took. You are a Wonder Woman!

Thank you Nikki! I know some of these bloggers, but there are lots of new names here I need to meet! I used to belong to the Gulf Coast Bloggers, but that group sort of disbanded. We had a lot of fun for a couple of years, monthly meetings etc. I live in Birmingham part time too so let me know if any bloggers groups get going up there

Hi Jenna! Thanks for stopping by! I wish I knew of a group but I am hoping we can get one started and even hold a bloggers conference. You would have valuable information on that I think. I hope you will help me get it going. 🙂

Hi Victoria. I found that Instagram was the best source for my research. I also asked in some FB groups that I am in. I am sure there are lots more but I had so many all ready that I had to stop. We usually stay at Perdido Beach Resort when we go, but thats on the Alabama side. So nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by! 🙂

I had no idea that I would find so many. And really, now I figure that there are many that I haven’t discovered yet. But I had to stop somewhere. Shall I do a Utah search for you?? Thanks Christie. I know these bloggers would appreciate a look-see at their blogs. 🙂

    • gwingal says:

Hi Kat! I have not met ANY Alabama bloggers in person yet, but I’d love to! And I’d love to have our own conference some day. When I was researching, I just had to make myself stop because I was finding too many for just one blog post. I am sure I missed a lot of great ones. Including YOU! Thanks so much for stopping by and introducing yourself. I will be over to your blog to follow. I love following my neighbors. 🙂
